TKS

If you're new to my monthly newsletter and don't know what TKS is. Click on it, it'll lead you to their website.

Hackathon

This month we had our first-ever hackathon! Well, more of an ideathon. We didn't actually have to create the product yet. Just prove that it could work. We only had the weekend to do it. This was the assignment.

An explore topic is just any emerging technology, like blockchain, gene editing, A.I. etc. So what did our group come up with? We solved opioid dependency using a BCI, Brain-Computer Interface. So COOL right?? And the coolest part is, I got to pitch the idea in front of really, and I mean really cool people from the science field! We even won the Google Award, aka best prototype. If you want to see how we solved it and laugh at my first ever real presentation, click here :). Big shout out to, Jules, Mehr, Neha, Pedro and Roy for being the best team ever!

Impatience with action and patience with results.

Longevity

So last time I mentioned that I'd be attending the Longevity session. Well, I did and it wasn't my cup of tea.

Since it was so heavily focussed on biology and not technology. But we did have some cool ethical discussions about it. And I learned about some very cool companies who are getting closer to increasing our healthspan, the years we're free of diseases.

Check some of them out here!

Focus

So what the hell is a focus? Well, in TKS we choose a focus to work on. We pick an emerging technology we're interested in, and go deep into it. No fluff, surface-level stuff. Really understand it. So what did I choose? Blockchain babyyy. I've already written two articles about it.

I am working on my first replicate at the moment. It's the first project in the focus. We basically just replicate something someone else has already done. That way we learn and get used to the field. I am creating a decentralised lottery system! Stay tuned for that article about it ;)

Mindset

The mindset of the week that stuck with me this month was FIO, Figure It Out. I've always liked this way of thinking. Not constantly asking for help on the smallest problem you face. We get conditioned at school to always ask for help, which is good, but students internalise this too much. No one thinks for themselves anymore.

Imagine you being a boss. You hire someone to do a certain job, and they constantly ask questions whenever they're facing a small probem. You fire their ass! You're paying them to solve problems and everytime they face one, they come to you. So you solve them anyway!! Stupid. It's vitally important to be able to figure it out.

Personal

Okay done with the TKS stuff, now the juicy personal things.

Callused Mind - David Goggins

As mentioned last month, I started listening to the audiobook Can't hurt me - David Goggins. He discussed a topic there, a callused mind. He talks about how important it is to have it. Your hands are callused when you work out a lot. Your body creates that callus to protect your hands. Your hands become stronger and more resilient that way. You can do the same thing with your mind.

They say there's always light at the end of the tunnel, but not once your eyes adjust to the darkness.
David Goggins

All the hardship you face calluses your mind. And there are two ways of dealing with this callused mind. Either you let the callus grow around you and isolate yourself from everything that's happening around you.

The other option is letting it help you. How'd you do that? By embracing the callused mind. Every time you face hardship, remember all the shit you've faced and overcome. All of them combined can't possibly be as hard as whatever you're dealing with at the moment. So you can for a fact get through it.

Push-Ups

My retarded ass did 500 push-ups in one afternoon. All because of one youtube video where someone said, you're mentally weak and challenged the viewers to do 500 push-ups. Yea didn't expect it to be that hard xD.

Podcasts

Here a couple of podcasts I listened to this month.

Some quotes from the podcasts:

"Keep your identity small"
"Show the best of your authentic self"
"Meaning and purpose come from people, not a higher being You, I, and everybody else — we manufacture our own meaning; we manufacture our purpose. And how much better is it that we come up with our meaning, compared to having it bestowed or forced upon us by some external entity?”
Brian Greene

That was it! This month's newsletter is finished. See you next month! Feel free to follow me on my socials below and share this with your friends :)
